A vital aspect of Piotr Jaros’s practice is the reflection on socio-economic transitions related to rampant globalisation. Situating his work in this context, the artist acts here as a developer with plans for a brave new world. Against the backdrop of abandoned buildings he develops his fantastic visions of the future of Leipzig seen through the prism of the ideological principles of the industrial giant BMW. New investments are to revolutionise the life of the inhabitants, and car manufacturing is to contribute to an impressive leap in the development of civilisation. However, the pompous speech soon changes into a parody of some visionary mumbo jumbo, which lays bare the void of the utopian content.
